Quickly Locksmith LLC: When to Replace Locks

Anyone with a property knows that when it comes to the doors that lead right into your property, the locks on them are some of the most important parts of your security system. What if you didn’t have front door locks? Can you imagine? If you are a homeowner, you need to see to it that your family is safe and secure. If you are a business owner, you have clients, customers, staff and yourself to worry about, not to mention the items you sell at your property. And of course, if you own a car, you want to make sure nobody can break in to it. At the end of the day you need locks that work. There are numerous different types of locks, that are a good fit for various types of doors. Broken locks are dangerous. So if you think you might need to replace your locks, hopefully this information will point you in the right direction.

Why Damaged or Broken Locks Must Be Replaced

Did you ever think about how dangerous it would happen to be if your front door had a damaged lock on it? If you haven’t thought about it, and if your lock might be broken or completely falling apart, then you need to consider why a broken lock is so unsafe for a property owner. Now, what if your business property had broken locks? Of course, a damaged lock offers any potential intruder or criminal a way to get into your property with ease. No one wants that. A broken lock is very easy to spot, unfortunately. Keep in mind that if someone is able to walk into your property then they can easily steal from you and manipulate other parts of your security system. You need to stay safe and it is important that you have locks in place to help you to do this.

If you have damaged locks, they can also become stuck. So, you might insert your key to try to get in, only to find the key is completely now stuck in the lock. You may experience a lockout at three or four in the morning, and then what are you supposed to? It is very easy for a malfunctioning lock to just cease to work. Your key could end up stuck in the lock and there is no way for you to remove it without causing damage, from there. You will end up having to call a lock and security expert for assistance in the middle of the night.

Why To Replace Your Door Locks
There are many reasons as to why a person would be interested in replacing locks on car doors, business building door’s and residential property doors. We already mentioned that a broken or damaged lock is extremely unsafe. You should view it as an open invite to criminals to walk right into your property.

Quickly Locksmith LLC: Transponder Key Problems

The importance of a transponder key cannot be underestimated. In fact, without the transponder key, your vehicle would probably be broken into or stolen quite frequently. The transponder is a relatively new security technology designed to prevent theft and intrusion. In other words, the transponder key is responsible for keeping your vehicle locked until you arrive. In this blog post, we will discuss how the transponder key works and how it can malfunction. Each one of the problems has a solution, so don’t worry about it. If your transponder key is not working, it can be repaired. And if repairs are out of the question because of the extent of the damage, the transponder key can be replaced. Keep in mind that replacing a transponder key is not enough to solve the problem. The chip inside the key will not be recognized by your vehicle until it has been properly programmed.

What Is the Transponder Chip and How Does It Work?

The reality is that the transponder key is not as complex as you think. You probably never thought about what lies inside that plain-looking car key. Inside the car key there is a small transponder chip. It’s relatively small in size and quite uninteresting. However, it has a very important role. When you plug the key in the ignition of your vehicle, the Engine Control Unit (also known as the ECU) sends a message to the transponder chip. Depending on make and model of vehicle, this message is different. The transponder chip must recognize this message and respond to it correctly. Only when the ECU receives the correct reply will it start the engine. If the ECU does not receive a response or if the response is not correct, the engine will not start whatever you do. And there is no workaround this. You will not be able to start your car, period. Let’s see why the transponder key may stop working and how you can fix the problem.

Common Transponder Key Problems and Their Solutions

The most common problem with transponder keys is that they tend to run out of power after a certain period of time. The transponder chip needs power to work. This power is supplied by a small battery inside the car key. After some time, the battery depletes and stops supplying the necessary power. When this happens, the transponder chip basically shuts down and stops sending the message to the ECU when you attempt to start the car. The simple solution is to replace the battery inside your key.

Another very common problem with transponder keys is the fact that they can be quite sensitive to mechanical shocks and to water. If you drop the key on a hard surface, the transponder chip may be damaged. The same can happen when you accidentally submerge the car key under water. A damaged transponder chip will not communicate with the ECU of your vehicle and your vehicle will not start. To solve the problem, one needs to replace the transponder chip and program it to work with his or her vehicle.

At times, the transponder chip may simply stop working for no apparent reason. Remember that this is an electronic device. It can break out of the blue, just like any other electronic device (like your smartphone, for instance). If this happens, you must replace the transponder chip and then program the new chip to work with your vehicle.

5 Benefits of Commercial Access Control

You may not be aware of it, but many businesses in Atlanta, Georgia utilize access control security technology. These mainly include larger commercial properties, including big box stores, schools, medical facilities, apartment complexes, and buildings with a large staff and a three-shift rotation schedule. Small businesses are also beginning to see the benefits of such an access control system in protecting their assets. Access control is an important advantage of the security of a property because it allows the business owner to have a measure of control of who is able to access the property at any given time.

Types of Access Control for Businesses

Before we discuss the benefits of access control for commercial properties, it’s important to differentiate between the different types of access control that are available for business owners to choose from. Key card scanners are arguably the most popular form of access control currently found on commercial properties due to the relative ease and low expense of using such a system. However, many other innovations in commercial access control exist, including:

Businesses that Benefit From Access Control

Many businesses would benefit from a full access control system. This is only a partial list. Any business property with many employees, a high employee turnover rate, multiple layers of security clearance, and high foot traffic should consider installing a commercial access control system. These include but are not limited to:

  • Hospitals
  • Pharmacies
  • Department Stores
  • Big Box Stores
  • Office Buildings
  • Industrial Complexes
  • Schools
  • College Campuses

Benefits of Commercial Access Control

Restricting Designated Off-Limits Areas

In any larger business, at least in most cases, there are tiers of access afforded to the employees depending on their role in the business. General employees get one level of access, then managers a higher level, then supervisors a more advanced level still, and so on. Access control allows you to easily maintain the lines between these different categories of access control.

Importance of Having a Gun Safe

Citizens in the United States own guns for a number of different reasons, but it doesn’t matter what your reasoning is, because of no matter what safety with your gun should be the number one thing to think about when getting a gun. Safes are perfect for gun placement when the gun is not in use, especially if the gun you are using is for personal protection. Most guns that are used for protection are loaded with ammunition all the time in case the worst thing happens.

Owning a gun safe also gives you the peace of mind of knowing that your guns, money, documents and anything else you own are in a secured location where young children or thieves can’t get access to them.

When searching for a gun safe provider and the best gun safes on the market it can seem overwhelming at first, but with the right amount of research, it actually becomes easier to make the choice in finding a gun safe that protects you and your family from any accidents. Children can unknowingly pull the trigger on a loaded gun, or a teenager might show their friends the collection of firearms you own, and that’s where a lot of accidents occur.

With a locked, secure safe you can prevent life-threatening injuries from ever occurring.
Collectible guns are often worth lots of money, and they have sentimental value, so having those locked up in fireproof safes prevents you from having cases where something might go wrong with
Gun safes are also the right thing to get in case you have kids because they make it impossible for your kids to find your gun and can stop an accident before it ever happens. Whenever you are in search of a gun safe this might be the best thing for you in order to make the decision to purchase one.

Gun safes also come in all shapes and sizes and can be custom made depending on what kind of gun you’re looking at getting. If you purchase a rifle, you can also get a gun safe made for that gun, or if you purchase a pistol you can just get a small safe made just for that gun. Safes don’t have to take up a bunch of room if you don’t need them to.

The point is there is a different option when it comes to purchasing a gun safe. Most gun dealers have a small selection of safes for sale, but you can also find safes at locksmith shops and online. For example, Amazon has an amazing selection of gun safes that are easy to find and the prices vary depending on what you’re looking for.

The cost of traditional safes can be slightly high, but due to the amount of competition in making safes and specializes in refurbishing old or damaged safes, the prices are lower than what they used to be. Some dealers will take trade-ins on safes and sell them for a reduced price.

Different Kinds of Gun Safes:

Biometric Gun Safes:
Biometric gun safes are some of the most advanced and secure safes on the market, and its because these safes allow you to use your own fingerprints as your unlocking code, and the chances of two people having the same fingerprints is about 1 in 64 million, so it’s safe to say that these kinds of safes are perfect for all gun owning citizens.

Garage Door Locks – additional security

Garage door locks are vital to our home security. Without them, an intruder could simply lift your garage door open and enter not only the space where you park your car, but in many cases, your home itself! Here at Quickly Locksmith LLC we offer a variety of garage door locks for home and business use. Even if you don’t live here in the Atlanta, GA area, you can still  take advantage of our garage door security tips to better protect your garage area whether you are home or not!
Garage door locks are useful. They afford us privacy and security; not just from burglars and intruders but also from accidental openings, nosy neighbors, playful children and even the weather! These locks come in many forms and vary from highly inexpensive to more pricey. There’s literally something for every need and every budget!

In the old days…
Not so long ago, locks on garage doors were quite simple. So were garage doors come to think of it! Before the advent of rolling, sectional garage doors, homeowners used a single door tilt up which was secured, if at all, by a padlock. In order to access your garage, you had to manually lift the solid door up and into the garage. If it was secured by the padlock, you opened that first, of course. Nowadays, most garage doors are of the rolling kind and in you have an automatic garage door opener; it already comes with a lock. Try it for yourself – close your garage door and attempt to lift it manually. You can’t – that’s because the opener system already locked it. These nifty automatic garage door openers not only give us security, they also provide convenience as we never have to leave the comfort or security of our cars in order to open or close our garages.
So why do I need another lock?
Getting another lock for your garage door is not a requirement; it’s merely an option for enhanced security. Many home doors have more than one lock on them and it’s really no different for your garage door. If you do choose to add an additional lock, we’ve got you covered! Select a lock from those mentioned below or call us, or your favorite local residential locksmith for additional details and ideas.

Keypad locks
These are quite common in better residential areas. A keypad is installed outside the garage door and access is granted when the correct number sequence is entered into the pad. The garage door opens or closes on demand. These locks allow for handy garage door access when on foot and not near the opener unit in the car. The number sequence can be changed at will in case new tenants or buyers take over the property.

Garage deadbolt locks
Chances are, you have a deadbolt on your front door. Garage doors can also benefit from having one of these installed. These must be operated manually by simply closing the garage door and turning the deadbolt knob to secure it in place. You can unlock the deadbolt from the outside with a key (just like your front door, again). One big advantage to having a garage door deadbolt is that it helps prevent outside tampering with your garage door opener unit with a coat hanger or other device that can be slipped through your panels and used to unlock your automatic opener.
