Receiving Professional Help

You may not seek professional help because you might not think that you can afford their services. However, we are here to tell you that you can receive the help that you want and need from a professional locksmith service. There are some shops that specialize in servicing safes. However, you can receive the same help from a reliable locksmith and they won’t charge you as much as a specialty safe company. These services also aren’t as convenient as a locksmith company because they may require you to bring the safe to them. This could pose a serious problem if the safe is too large for you to carry. On the other hand, a locksmith won’t make you bring the safe to them; they will come to wherever the safe is to administer the services that you want and need.

Panic Bars Play an Important Role in Commercial Property Safety and Security

Atlanta Commercial LocksmithThere is no such thing as a commercial property that is too safe. There are always things that can be done to improve the safety and security of any business or other commercial building. Fire, natural disasters, and other occurrences mean that buildings sometimes need to be exited quickly in order to get people to safety. One of the best ways to ensure a building can be evacuated quickly is to make sure that panic bars are installed on its emergency exit doors. This article will provide a lot more information on these handy devices which allow quick egress from a building in the event of any emergency.

What Exactly Are Panic Bars?

For those that don’t know what panic bars are, they have probably seen them without even knowing it. That’s because they are on emergency exit doors of most places such as municipal buildings, theaters, school gymnasiums, and other places where people tend to congregate in large numbers. Panic bars are usually attached to plain emergency exit doors that are solid and have no windows in them. They are vertical bars that go across the center of an emergency exit door.

What’s so special about these devices that make them so important to install on emergency exit doors? For one, they are designed to help people quickly egress out of a building in the event of a fire or other emergency. The best thing about them is they are so simple to operate that even a child can get an emergency exit door equipped with panic bars to open easily. It takes just a slight pressure on them to trigger the locks on the doors they are attached too.

Excellent Reasons to Have Panic Bars Installed on Commercial Property Emergency Exit Doors

These are the top reasons why commercial buildings have panic bars installed on their emergency exit doors.

  • Safety

By far the number one reason that any business installs panic bars on their emergency exit doors is for safety purposes. There are just so many reasons that installing panic bars and other building safety devices are both the prudent and responsible thing for commercial property owners and managers to do. Anything less exposes the employees and any other users of that business to injury or loss of life in the event of a severe emergency.

Go With Keyless Locks for the Ultimate in Lock Convenience

For many years people carried a big wad of keys around with them. After all, keys were needed for locks at home, at work, and for the car. Add in storage facilities, work sheds, and barns and that’s a lot of keys to be carrying around at once. People even had to get colored coated plastic ends for keys so they could somewhat keep track of them. Thankfully those days are pretty much over thanks to modern keyless entry devices. The benefits of them are almost limitless, especially the convenience they have to offer those that have them installed on their cars, home, and business.

Atlanta High Security Locks

The Many Different Types of Keyless Locks

It’s always a good idea to start by going over some of the different types of keyless locks that are available in the lock marketplace. That way a person will better understand the ways in which the different types of keyless locks will benefit them. There are now a large variety of different types of keyless locks that are available and these are the most popular ones among them.

  • Electronic keypads

These kinds of keyless locks are commonly found on everything from car to garage doors. They also work well as quick and easy home entry locks. Just a few presses of the correct buttons and these locks will open up. That makes them convenient to place just about anywhere you need a lock.

  • Card swipe locks

These are locks that are often used in conjunction with business access points. The user simply carries around a magnetic card that they place near or swipe through the device to open it. There are even home use versions of these locks being used now.

Quickly Locksmith, LLC: Tips to Hire a Good Locksmith

quickly_locksmith_auto_lockout_technicianHiring a locksmith is something that is quite important. You want to choose the right person or business to help you, because this is someone you could form a long-standing relationship with. Perhaps you will initially hire the person to help you replace locks at your home, but down the road you might use them if you lose your car key or if you want to upgrade your business locks. The point is, you want to hire a good locksmith. Hiring a locksmith that you will enjoy great customer service with is important. Take a look at the tips provided so you have the information you need when it comes to hiring a good locksmith.

How to Find a Good Locksmith

Talk with your friends and neighbors

Surely, at some point in time, someone in your social circle has needed to use a locksmith. Maybe it’s that a neighbor of yours got locked out of his or her home, and called a locksmith to provide emergency assistance so they could get back inside. Or maybe you have a friend who runs a business and had a new keyless entry system installed, and you are curious as to the place they hired for the job. If you ask around, you might get connected with someone reputable and trustworthy. On the other hand, you might ask and not find anyone who has needed a locksmith. In that case…

Look at reviews

Check reviews online. With the Internet, we have the option to find things as fast as we need to. A search on Google will reveal many options for locksmiths, so be sure to check reviews. Check places like Yelp. Look at Facebook. Are you in a community group on Facebook? Ask if anyone recommends a locksmith. In an unbiased place like this, if you see the same name or business pop up multiple times, this might tell you that they are worth looking into.

Find a locksmith offering an array of services

A locksmith should be able to offer many different options, from commercial and automotive to residential and emergency. You want to be able to turn to one person, or make just one phone call, and be able to access multiple options. Let’s say, for example, you call someone because you are locked out of your car. So the locksmith comes to your location and gets you back in. But now, you don’t have a transponder key, which is the whole reason you were locked out to begin with. So now you want transponder key programming. It’s easier when the expert you hire offers variety.

Quickly Locksmith LLC: Different Lock Types

Atlanta Lock and KeyWhenever you are having a new house built or renovations made to your existing home, you will likely need to have new locks installed. Most locksmiths will agree that your locks are the first defense against intrusion. If you don’t have locks on your exterior doors or you don’t have the right type of locks then this can pose a serious threat to your safety and security. Perhaps up until this point you haven’t given much consideration to your locks. Now that you need to make some decisions, you’ll need to familiarize yourself with the various types of locks that are available to you today. When you are having a house built there are so many decisions to be made that you might feel that something like locks is minor.

Despite how minor you may think they are, they have a great impact on the safety and security of your home. Our locksmiths at Quickly Locksmith LLC in Atlanta, GA can help you find the right locks for any of your projects, big or small. If you simply leave it to chance you will likely have to find out the hard way just how much attention you should have given to your locks. Just because you may be familiar with one manufacturer to another doesn’t make one better than the other. All this simply means is that one of the manufacturer’s decided to do more advertising than the other. This is why you are probably more familiar with their brand.

However, if this is the case then it’s safe to assume that the other company used their money to improve the quality of the locks that they sell. If this is important to you then you’ll evaluate the different types of locks offered to you instead of simply relying on a lock because of the advertising that they do. Our locksmiths are capable of showing you what your options are so that you are able to make a good decision about the types of locks that you would like to have installed.

You can never let your guard down as a homeowner. You just never know if your home is going to be targeted by a thief but you can be prepared by having the right locks in place on your doors. Locks typically have a rating on them that indicates its level of durability. Locks with the higher rating offer the most durability. Since a locksmith is familiar with these ratings and what they mean, it would definitely be in your best interest to consult with one before purchasing your new locks. They will be able to explain them to you, in detail, so that you have a better understanding of the rating system. It is possible to make a well-informed decision when you are equipped with all of the necessary information. Do your research before you purchase your locks and you’ll be able to protect your home and loved ones.

How Locks Are Designed

It may be helpful to know just how locks operate. Knowing this information might help you determine which type of lock you would like. Standard locks have a doorknob lock on them. This requires just one key to be inserted into the keyhole for you to unlock. It isn’t a very complicated lock to install. It is often installed on the interior of a home but if installed anywhere else, another lock should be installed alongside it. This is because it is not a very durable lock and it is the type of lock that can easily be broken by a thief. You may not be familiar with this and that is why it would serve you best to consult with a locksmith when you are in the market for new locks.

Quickly Locksmith, LLC: What to Do When Transponder Key is Lost

Losing anything is a pain. Have you ever lost your phone or your iPad, and searched frantically for it? Finally, it turns up in a place you thought you already had checked. But what happens when you lose something that literally leaves you stuck? What happens when your transponder key is lost? This is a very difficult and stressful situation, because you likely have places to go and things to do, and losing your transponder key can set you back. Unless you live in a place that you can take public transportation everywhere, you need your vehicle.

quickly_locksmith_auto_lockout_technicianWe know that lost transponder keys sometimes happen, and that is why we are going to discuss what to do when your transponder key is lost. There are certain things you can do to try to resolve the situation quickly. We are going to provide further information on what to do when your transponder key is lost. Even if you are only reading to help someone else or prevent the issue from occurring down the road, you might find this information to be beneficial.

Here, discover the basic information you need if you have lost your transponder key. We will discuss how transponder keys are used and what exactly they are. Transponder keys are a security solution for vehicle owners – you might know this, but you might not realize much about them beyond this. These keys come with new vehicles, meaning vehicles made after the 1990s. Transponder keys function through the utilization of a signal. This signal is a specific match only for the car it was designed for. This is the security part. If you lose your key, you might end up needing a locksmith for help. We are Quickly Locksmith, LLC in Atlanta, GA and we can help if your transponder key is lost, assuming you are in our service area. But if you aren’t in the area we service, be sure to pull up a locksmith nearby you! You should have their number saved anyway, in case you ever need them.

Is your transponder key missing? Do you have access to another one? Often times, you end up looking into missing transponder keys because you don’t have a spare that you can access. So here is what you should do –

Carefully look through your vehicle. Your transponder key could be exactly where you last saw it – in your vehicle. Maybe it fell and you did not realize you kicked it to the side, and now it’s in the backseat. Or maybe, likewise, it fell on the ground and is near your vehicle. It’s worth checking, at the very least. Maybe you dropped your key while on a hike. You can retrace your steps, but check any areas in the parking lot where someone could have left a pair of keys if they found them. If you lost them in a store, go to the cashier and ask if someone returned the keys. You never know – often times, people do the right thing!

10 Ways to Increase Your Residential Property Security

Atlanta Residential LocksmithIf you are a homeowner, there is no doubt that keeping your home secure and safe is important to you. No matter what kind of home you own or where you live, there are certain precautions and measures you need to take as a homeowner to ensure the safety of your household. Although home security may seem daunting, there are several affordable adjustments and installations you can make to help improve your overall safety. Below you will find a detailed list of the top 10 things you can do as a homeowner to improve or increase your home security ASAP.

1 – Remain Hyper vigilant

Even if you have lived in your neighborhood for years, it is important to remain vigilant and aware of any abnormal activity in or around your home. Strange or criminal encounters can occur in any neighborhood, at any time. If you notice any suspicious vehicles or persons in your area, it is important to report it immediately. A suspicious vehicle may circle the neighborhood several times with no apparent destination or drive unnecessarily slowly up and down your street without appearing to look for a particular address or location. https://twitter.com/quicklylocksllc

2 – Replace Worn or Faulty Locks

It can be easy to neglect to replace a worn lock, especially if you find that the lock still somewhat works. However, any lock that appears to be in the process of breaking down or has worn completely should be replaced immediately. Criminals are most likely to break-in to and rob homes that have easy access points. Any worn or aging locks on your home may provide easy access for criminals.

3 – Add Additional Locks to Your Entry Doors

Once you have replaced any broken or worn locks around your home, you may also choose to reinforce them with additional interior locks. Sliding locks, chain locks, and other small, affordable locks can add extra protection to your home and peace of mind for your family members.

4 – Upgrade to Keyless Entry Locks

If it is within your budget to purchase keyless entry or electronic locks of some sort, you should consider making the switch. Electronic locks are more secure than traditional deadbolts and other kinds of home locks. Not to mention, they are nearly impossible to break or tamper with. Homeowners that install electronic or ‘smart’ locks for their homes have more control over their home security and enjoy greater peace of mind.

Car Key Stuck in Your Ignition? Here’s What to Do

Atlanta Ignition Cylinder Replacement
Atlanta Ignition Cylinder Replacement

Car key stuck in your ignition? While it may be rare, it happens more often than you might think. At least a few times a month, our locksmiths at Quickly Locksmith, LLC of Atlanta, Georgia receive phone calls from frantic customers who have gotten their car keys stuck in their ignition locks. However, not all of these situations may require a professional to remedy. Read on to learn what you should do if you’ve found yourself in this situation, as well as some preventative tips to help you avoid a reoccurrence in the future.

If at any time you notice that your key is sticking in your lock here and there, heed that as a warning and pay attention. That’s a sign that something is amiss. Inspect your key and the lock for any visible damage and replace the offending part, if needed. Usually, however, there isn’t a sign that your car key is going to get stuck in your ignition lock until it happens. It’s part of what makes it such a frustrating situation to deal with. Our locksmiths have got your back, however.

What You Shouldn’t Do

Before we discuss the best steps to take when your key is stuck in your ignition, let’s first discuss what you shouldn’t do. It’s best to read this section first so that you don’t inadvertently make a mistake that costs you more in the long run.

  • Don’t be too rough! Car keys are more delicate than most people think, and using too much force might cause the key to break off in the ignition cylinder. There’s also the possibility of causing additional damage to the internal mechanism of the lock if you try to use too much force to yank or jimmy your key out.
  • Don’t panic. As stated above, panicking will only make the situation worse. Even if the conditions are less than ideal, such as if you’re stuck in a parking lot in the middle of the night, panicking will just cause you to lose your rationality.
  • Don’t use pliers unless you know what you’re doing. Some people who are stuck in their driveway with their key in their ignition cylinder resort to raiding their toolbox to get the key free. Unless you have extensive experience with this sort of thing, it’s advised to avoid using pliers and other tools to try to free your key. This could cause additional damage to the ignition lock cylinder or the key itself. It’s best to leave this job to the professionals.

Ignition Cylinder Problems

You may or may not be familiar with a small device that is a part of your vehicle known as an ignition cylinder. These cylinders or switches, as they may sometimes be called, are small, cylindrically shaped pieces of hardware that play a role in helping your vehicle turn on, as well as holding your car key in place. An ignition cylinder is comprised of a small slit in the center of the top of the cylinder, with the slit visible near the right side of your car’s steering wheel. This is where you enter your key and twist in order to start your car. The rest of the cylinder is usually hidden within the steering wheel and for good reason. Ignition cylinders were made specifically to be difficult to reach or tamper with. This helps against theft and makes it more difficult for a car to be hotwired and stolen.

Common Issues
Ignition cylinders are used every time you turn on or turn off your vehicle. The repetitive motion of inserting and extracting your car key from the ignition cylinders center slit can cause normal wear and tear overtime. If your ignition cylinder is faulty, there are several indicators that will clue you in and may signal that your cylinder needs to be replaced or repaired.

Issue #1 – Your Car Will Not Start
Since ignition cylinders help hold your key in place and signal to the car that the proper key is inserted, it is important that the cylinder remain stable. If for some reason your vehicle’s ignition cylinder is out of place, it can make it so that even with the proper key, your car cannot hold the key in place and start the car. Ignition cylinders are quite resilient, but because they are typically used every day, if not multiple times a day, they can succumb to wear and tear. Your vehicle may not be starting because the cylinder has been knocked loose or is no longer in the proper position to be able to hold the key in place.

Issue #2 – Your Car Electrical Panels Do Not Respond
This second indicator can also mean that your ignition cylinder is worn or not responding as it should. Similar to the scenario in which your car will not start at all, you may not get a response from the car’s electrical panel when you twist your key once in the cylinder. This can indicate your cylinder is not in the right position and may need to be replaced. Typically, with just a turn of a key in a car’s ignition cylinder, you should notice the inner electrical panels and lights turn on in the car. Sometimes, this may signal an issue with your car battery, but it may also mean your ignition cylinder is to blame.

Issue #3 – You are Unable to Insert of Fit Your Key into the Cylinder
Another possibility that can signal a problem with your cylinder is not being able to insert the key into the slot. This can happen for a few different reasons. It is possible that something may have gotten stuck inside of your ignition cylinder and it blocking the slot, making it so your key cannot fit. It is also possible that something within the cylinder has become damaged or bent and is causing a blockage.
