Lockout Situations and Solutions

As a locally owned and operated locksmith business in Atlanta, Quickly Locksmith LLC has come to the rescue of many who find themselves locked out. You could experience a lockout at any time of the day or night and you may even find yourself locked out of your house or your car. Regardless of why you are locked out, you can usually get the help that you want and need from a qualified locksmith.  There is a right way and an incorrect way to unlock your home or car door. If you do not want to make the situation any worse then we would advise you to call on the services of a locksmith to help you gain access again. A lockout situation could cause you some level of anxiety. If you are locked out because you have lost your key this is even more of a stressing situation. You could be putting yourself and your loved ones lives in jeopardy. If your vehicle is stolen then there is a chance that it may be in the hands of the wrong person. You can’t take chances when it comes to your safety and security. It is important that you get the help that you want and need from someone who can effectively gain access into your home again. When you rely on the services of a locksmith, they can get you back inside quickly and they will also be able to change your locks. If you don’t have a spare key, you are in even bigger trouble than you imagined. There are some very practical ways to address the problem that will not put your life in jeopardy.

Getting Back Inside

If you live in an apartment building then your situation isn’t so bad because you can likely rely on the services of the building superintendent to let you back inside your apartment. However, if it is after hours and there is no superintendent around then you will need to call on a reputable and reliable locksmith. If you live in an apartment and are trying to gain access whether the superintendent allows you back in or a locksmith, you will still have to prove that you are the actual tenant. This will require that you have some form of id that identifies you as the renter of that particular unit. If you live in a house and call on the services of a locksmith, you can usually get help in a hurry but you will still need to give them proof of homeownership before they will unlock the door for you. The one thing that you do not want to do is break the window of your home or vehicle in order to gain access back into your home or car. This will only make the situation far worse because now you will have to immediately have the window replaced. Rather than making matters worse than what they are, do yourself a favor by contacting a locksmith instead. They have the tools needed to carefully help you gain access inside without causing damages.

How to Avoid Being Locked Out

One way to avoid being locked out is to buy a keyless lock. This is a keypad inserted on the outside of your home. You have to create a code that you enter into the keypad in order to gain access inside your home. Make it a code that you will remember and don’t be too quick to give it out to people. This is one of the best ways to avoid being locked out. Even though they cost more than a standard lock, they are well worth the investment. Another way to avoid being locked out is to make sure you have a spare key handy.

Quickly Locksmith LLC: When to Replace Locks

Anyone with a property knows that when it comes to the doors that lead right into your property, the locks on them are some of the most important parts of your security system. What if you didn’t have front door locks? Can you imagine? If you are a homeowner, you need to see to it that your family is safe and secure. If you are a business owner, you have clients, customers, staff and yourself to worry about, not to mention the items you sell at your property. And of course, if you own a car, you want to make sure nobody can break in to it. At the end of the day you need locks that work. There are numerous different types of locks, that are a good fit for various types of doors. Broken locks are dangerous. So if you think you might need to replace your locks, hopefully this information will point you in the right direction.

Why Damaged or Broken Locks Must Be Replaced

Did you ever think about how dangerous it would happen to be if your front door had a damaged lock on it? If you haven’t thought about it, and if your lock might be broken or completely falling apart, then you need to consider why a broken lock is so unsafe for a property owner. Now, what if your business property had broken locks? Of course, a damaged lock offers any potential intruder or criminal a way to get into your property with ease. No one wants that. A broken lock is very easy to spot, unfortunately. Keep in mind that if someone is able to walk into your property then they can easily steal from you and manipulate other parts of your security system. You need to stay safe and it is important that you have locks in place to help you to do this.

If you have damaged locks, they can also become stuck. So, you might insert your key to try to get in, only to find the key is completely now stuck in the lock. You may experience a lockout at three or four in the morning, and then what are you supposed to? It is very easy for a malfunctioning lock to just cease to work. Your key could end up stuck in the lock and there is no way for you to remove it without causing damage, from there. You will end up having to call a lock and security expert for assistance in the middle of the night.

Why To Replace Your Door Locks
There are many reasons as to why a person would be interested in replacing locks on car doors, business building door’s and residential property doors. We already mentioned that a broken or damaged lock is extremely unsafe. You should view it as an open invite to criminals to walk right into your property.

Quickly Locksmith LLC: Transponder Key Problems

The importance of a transponder key cannot be underestimated. In fact, without the transponder key, your vehicle would probably be broken into or stolen quite frequently. The transponder is a relatively new security technology designed to prevent theft and intrusion. In other words, the transponder key is responsible for keeping your vehicle locked until you arrive. In this blog post, we will discuss how the transponder key works and how it can malfunction. Each one of the problems has a solution, so don’t worry about it. If your transponder key is not working, it can be repaired. And if repairs are out of the question because of the extent of the damage, the transponder key can be replaced. Keep in mind that replacing a transponder key is not enough to solve the problem. The chip inside the key will not be recognized by your vehicle until it has been properly programmed.

What Is the Transponder Chip and How Does It Work?

The reality is that the transponder key is not as complex as you think. You probably never thought about what lies inside that plain-looking car key. Inside the car key there is a small transponder chip. It’s relatively small in size and quite uninteresting. However, it has a very important role. When you plug the key in the ignition of your vehicle, the Engine Control Unit (also known as the ECU) sends a message to the transponder chip. Depending on make and model of vehicle, this message is different. The transponder chip must recognize this message and respond to it correctly. Only when the ECU receives the correct reply will it start the engine. If the ECU does not receive a response or if the response is not correct, the engine will not start whatever you do. And there is no workaround this. You will not be able to start your car, period. Let’s see why the transponder key may stop working and how you can fix the problem.

Common Transponder Key Problems and Their Solutions

The most common problem with transponder keys is that they tend to run out of power after a certain period of time. The transponder chip needs power to work. This power is supplied by a small battery inside the car key. After some time, the battery depletes and stops supplying the necessary power. When this happens, the transponder chip basically shuts down and stops sending the message to the ECU when you attempt to start the car. The simple solution is to replace the battery inside your key.

Another very common problem with transponder keys is the fact that they can be quite sensitive to mechanical shocks and to water. If you drop the key on a hard surface, the transponder chip may be damaged. The same can happen when you accidentally submerge the car key under water. A damaged transponder chip will not communicate with the ECU of your vehicle and your vehicle will not start. To solve the problem, one needs to replace the transponder chip and program it to work with his or her vehicle.

At times, the transponder chip may simply stop working for no apparent reason. Remember that this is an electronic device. It can break out of the blue, just like any other electronic device (like your smartphone, for instance). If this happens, you must replace the transponder chip and then program the new chip to work with your vehicle.
